Who looks after your details

Bould Landscapes Ltd, hard landscapers based in St Austell, Cornwall. Benn decides what happens to the details you send, so in data protection terms Bould Landscapes is the “controller”.

When you ask for a quote

The “Do we cover your area?” sheet asks for your postcode, the job, a rough size, when you would like it done, your name and phone number, and, if you like, your email and anything else you want to add. Nothing is stored on this website and nothing is sent anywhere while you fill it in.

Your postcode is looked up with postcodes.io, a free postcode service, to see whether you are in Cornwall. Only the postcode goes to it.

At the end the sheet writes a message for you. It only reaches Benn if you send it yourself, on WhatsApp or by email. WhatsApp and your email provider carry it under their own privacy terms.

What Benn does with it

He uses your name, number or email, your postcode and what you told him about the job to get back to you, arrange a visit and give you a quote, and, if you go ahead, to do the work. That is the lawful basis: taking the steps you asked for before a contract, and then the contract itself.

Your details are never sold or passed to anyone for marketing. Benn keeps quote messages only as long as he needs them for the quote and the job, and job records for as long as the law requires (for example for tax).

Cookies and Google Analytics

The site works without cookies. If you say yes when it asks, it uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people find Bould. That sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_…, which last up to two years. Google Analytics does not store your IP address, and Bould cannot see who you are from it.

If you say no, Google Analytics never loads. Your answer is kept in your browser, not in a cookie. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Google may process this data in the United States, under the UK–US data bridge.

Running the website

The site is built and looked after for Bould by Saltwater Digital, Cornwall, which also runs the Google Analytics account for Bould. It is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel keeps short-lived server logs, including IP addresses, to run and protect the site.

Your rights

You can ask to see the details Bould holds about you, to have them corrected or deleted, or object to how they are used. Email info@bouldlandscapes.co.uk.

If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
