Composite and timber decking across Cornwall: raised decks, hot tub decks, steps, handrails and planters to match.

The work
How Benn builds a deck.
From the posts where he shows the work.
- 01
Clear the old
Rotten boards and timbers come out. Posts go in, with a membrane and ballast underneath to stop weeds coming through.
- 02
A protected frame
The timber frame is painted to protect it: bitumen paint on one rebuild to add upwards of 10 years to the timbers, waterproof paint on a raised 6x2 frame.
- 03
The boards
Composite boards from Cladco, in Stone Grey or wood grain Teak, or Platinum composite, which is slip resistant and gentle underfoot.
- 04
The finish
Bullnose edging, steps, handrails with spindles, raised sleeper planters and composite cladding.

Questions
What people ask.
Do you build composite or timber decks?
Bould builds both composite and timber decks. Most of Benn’s recent decks are composite: Cladco, and Platinum boards, which are slip resistant and gentle underfoot. That is why he used them round a hot tub in Newquay.
Can you build a deck for a hot tub?
Yes. One 2026 job started with a 7 inch reinforced concrete base for a six-person hot tub, then a raised composite deck around it.
Can you rebuild an old or rotten deck?
Yes. One customer had pulled up a rotten deck two years before. The team built a new frame, handrail, steps and planters.
What does a composite deck cost?
Every job’s different, so there’s no set price. Benn quotes for free, with no obligation.
